At GEC, we offer a full range of educational, residential, and community-based services for children aged 3-5, adults, and seniors. Our shared goal is to promote independence, integration into the community, self-advocacy, and life skills for those with developmental disabilities.
Our day habilitation programs, available to individuals 21 years of age and older, are designed to support person-centered planning initiatives for all stages of life.
At GEC, we offer a free, full-day pre-K program for 3 and 4-year-olds with a dually NYS-certified early childhood and special education teacher in each classroom. Our program runs five days per week from September to June.
GEC’s Carrie Mastronardi Early Childhood Education Center offers a comprehensive clinical and educational program for preschoolers with disabilities to help them develop crucial language, social, and thinking skills. Our school staff provides services for families in a wide array of languages.
Our residential services are provided in private homes in lovely southwest Brooklyn. Our residences are comfortable and safe, beautifully maintained, and truly integrated into the community. They are surrounded by welcoming neighbors, shopping and dining options, places of worship, parks, community activities, and ample access to public transportation.
Our arts program, available to GEC day hab participants, facilitates classes, workshops and events that encourage authentic self-expression through creativity. We foster the development of "the artist" or the "green thumb" and promote stillness and peace through hands-on projects which include meditation and drumming, creating one-of-a-kind works of art, and growing a wide variety of plants.
